The Difference Strategic Business Blogging Makes: Blogging with Search Engines like Google in Mind

March 16, 2008 · Leave a Comment

As a business blogger and web strategist who understands how Google works, I have the ability to talk positively, negatively, and informatively about local and national vendors and have them show up in the first page of Google search results (which, at the end of the day, is where 80-85% of people get their information on a regular basis.  Its their online way to find out about you.)  For example, last night I had a poor experience at a local event and posted about it.  I show up in the top 3 to 6 results out of billions of websites indexed by Google across several searches related to the event, the occasion, and the neighborhood.  With a little work and time, I could show up.

In the same way you can show up near the top of the results for your town and the category of business you do.  More specifically there are specific ways to target specific pages your customers will be on as well as key phrases that they will use in the buying process.  And that’s just the tip of the iceberg….

Three quick tips…

• Think about your audience and customer.  Think like them.

• Target your search words to buying words.  Buy longtail keywords on Google.

• Create blog posts that target your audience and their needs and their steps along the buying process.  Create resources for them

• Create relationships online via blogging, social networking, and web 2.0 technologies.

If you would like help along this process to target more traffic and trust for your website and brand via blogging, web 2.0, and Google, I would be glad to provide consultation.

Do It Yourself (DIY) guerilla web marketing is like DIY lawyering.  Bring me in as your experienced advisor and consultant so I can point you in the right direction and what is best for your organization’s overall strategy.  You don’t want to be irrelevant on the web because you made a bad decision with Google.
